He is the Cornerstone

I live in a super tiny town, Elgin, South Carolina. There’s one stop light! However, it is expanding big time. There are houses being thrown up in places I never thought they’d fit. The Mayor of our town recently said Elgin is projected to build approximately 900 homes this year! With all of these new houses, I see foundations being laid all over. As I drove past a beautiful farmhouse near my workplace yesterday, I thought back to when it first began. It was just a foundation. The foundation that included the formula that was poured together to stand firm for a beautiful home to be built upon. In ancient times, the cornerstone was the foundation of a building. It...

He is the Vine

In the Glossner household, we are like kids when it comes to picking our Christmas tree. This year we've never had a tree so big (and guess what? If fell over!) But, that's another, very frustrating but funny, story. I love the way a Christmas tree smells and fills the whole house. It's my favorite.  I love the really full trees. I appreciate how healthy they are. And to think this gigantic tree once was planted and grew into something so beautiful. Something that makes me so very happy. We are much like the Christmas tree. We are planted by God and we grow up and flourish from Him.  "I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and...

He is Redeemer

What a wonderful thing redemption is. When we mess up or have off days, we have someone in our court. Someone who has our back. Someone who loves us more than we will ever know. I am very thankful for it and for Him. Our Redeemer (Isaiah 44:24. Everyone is in need of redemption. The Bible says "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Jesus is our Redeemer, and the benefits of His redemption include eternal life, forgiveness of our sins, freedom, deliverance, and peace with God.  If we are redeemed, then we were once bound in slavery. We were bound to sin and God purchased our freedom by sending His Son to die...

He is Wonderful Counselor

Blog post by Megan Goff Recently, our pastor spoke about Jesus being our Wonderful Counselor. It brought me peace as I am in a season of uncertainty. I am not sure where to step next, or if I should move at all. Have you been there? Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Wonderful in Hebrew is translated to pele'. Pele’ means incomprehensible, or beyond our understanding or belief. Counselor is translated yo‘ets. Yo‘ets means to advise, consult, or guide. So this means, Jesus will guide us beyond our understanding....

He is Immanuel

But after he had pondered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the One conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you shall give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Behold! The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means, “God with us”). (Matthew 1:20-23) As we see in the scripture, Jesus was called Immanuel even before He was actually here on...
