Have you ever had someone accuse you of something that you didn't do? I have and I could remember the feeling of helplessness and anger all at once. But I also remember the moments when someone dear in my life stood up for me. They knew I was innocent and they had my back through it all.
I'm sure we have all experienced that at least once in our life (if not a lot more). This brings me to 1 John 2:1- My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
An advocate is someone who pleads for or in behalf of another; an intercessor. That friends that had your back way back when. An advocate. And I'm sure you have been an advocate for someone in your life, too. But we learn here that Jesus is the biggest advocate of all. Satan is always accusing us of things and placing blame. He takes the things that we struggle with most and uses them against us. But Jesus is there to have our back. He pleads on our behalf. He's in our corner. I don't know about you, but I couldn't think of anyone better to have on my side.
Welcome to day 14 of Advent: He is the Advocate.
If you have the She Matters Journal, the Dig Deep section is the perfect tool to help you study the names of Jesus. You can purchase yours here.
Have you ever had someone have your back in a situation when you needed them most? Have you been and advocate for someone else?
How is Jesus the advocate in your life? How has he shown that He has your back?
Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for always having my back. Thank you for being on my side when the enemy is trying to attack. May I always run to you in times of need, but also in times of triumph. May I remember that you are always there for me, and to not take that for granted. In your precious and holy name, Amen.
