I live in a super tiny town, Elgin, South Carolina. There’s one stop light! However, it is expanding big time. There are houses being thrown up in places I never thought they’d fit. The Mayor of our town recently said Elgin is projected to build approximately 900 homes this year!
With all of these new houses, I see foundations being laid all over. As I drove past a beautiful farmhouse near my workplace yesterday, I thought back to when it first began. It was just a foundation. The foundation that included the formula that was poured together to stand firm for a beautiful home to be built upon.
In ancient times, the cornerstone was the foundation of a building. It was the biggest, strongest, and most carefully put together. Jesus is referred to as the Cornerstone where His church will be built upon in many scriptures.
Psalm 118:22 says, The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. There are deeper contexts to this scripture, one being about how David was placed in authority, thanks to God, even though he was rejected by others. But when you apply what this means to us now, this is amazing news friends. Jesus it the biggest, strongest, most carefully put together part of us, the church. And we GET TO be built on Him. Rejected or not, He is the cornerstone that stands strongest!
No matter what may be shaking you this season, know He is the Cornerstone where we can find constant stability. Hebrews 12:28 “Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him…” This season, let’s worship God by giving Jesus, the Cornerstone, our life. When we build on the Cornerstone, we are unshakable.
